Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced and meticulous Automobile Upholster to enhance the interiors of our specialized armoured vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of upholstery materials and techniques. This role is critical in ensuring the comfort, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of our vehicles’ interiors, meeting the high standards expected by our military and civilian clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Upholstery Repair and Replacement:
    • Remove old upholstery and inspect vehicle interiors for damage.
    • Measure, cut, and sew materials to create new, custom-fit upholstery coverings.
    • Install new upholstery, ensuring a seamless and professional finish.
  • Customization:
    • Collaborate with line manager to understand their specific customization needs and preferences.
    • Design and implement bespoke upholstery solutions that align with company specifications.
    • Recommend suitable materials and designs to enhance the vehicle’s interior.
  • Material Selection and Preparation:
    • Select high-quality fabrics, leathers, and other materials for upholstery projects.
    • Prepare materials by cutting precise patterns and sewing sections together with precision.
    • Utilize various tools and equipment to complete upholstery tasks efficiently.
  • Quality Control:
    • Ensure all upholstery work adheres to Buckler Systems’ stringent quality standards.
    • Conduct thorough inspections of completed work to guarantee accuracy and excellence.
    • Promptly address any issues or imperfections to maintain high-quality output.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with other team members, including engineers and designers, to ensure cohesive project execution.
    • Communicate effectively with line manager to understand clients needs and provide updates on project progress.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Certification or diploma in upholstery, automotive repair, or a related field is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in measuring, cutting, and sewing upholstery materials.
  • Strong knowledge of various upholstery materials (fabric, leather, vinyl, etc.).
  • Exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail.
  • Ability to use and maintain upholstery tools and equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot upholstery issues.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
  • Physical stamina and manual dexterity for performing hands-on tasks.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as an automobile upholsterer or in a similar role within the automotive industry.
  • Experience with both standard and custom upholstery projects is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality work in a timely and efficient manner.
